This special pendulum demonstrates two important principles. First, a pendulum's swing is not affected if the point where it is attached is rotating. Second, it demonstrates that the earth rotates. At precise intervals, the pendulum knocks over the metal pegs which show the rate of the rotation of the earth (once per day).
